Most of people start some dangerous/poisonous/bad habits at teen ages and they struggle later because they're addicted. Some of them leave their bad addictions. But some cant. At this point there's 2 kind of people.

1: accept its dangerous but can't leave

2- dont accept its dangerous and dont want to leave

You can talk with 1st group. Explain them what they are doing to their life. They know what's bad or good. They try...

But when it comes to 2nd group you cant do anything. Whatever you say they wont even listen. The ignorance that addiction causes is really bad. They cant control the situation because they do what their brain/body want.

This post is unbareable, not only because of the colors. You seem to ramble on about some unrelated stuff.

I believe that alcohol in certain moderation is good. Its not like every one who drinks alcohol drinks it to the point where they get blackout drunk. You calling drinking alcohol stupid (referring to OP) is generalizing.
h
I say, the consumption of something that evidently poisons us in different high levels is stupid. And we all do stupid things, i'm not offending in a way like "YOU ARE A SHIT" etc, it's a part of the entropy of our evolution. The main problem I'm trying to rise is that people are reaching points where think that alcohol is good/cool and something necessary to every damn party. The majority is the problem, and when the consequences of this kind of habits are pretty relevant and severe, then, generalizing is something more acceptable and justifiable because those who supposedly drink 'with moderation' doesn't make as much impact as the ones who causes the problems to themself or to others.
People who eat at McDonalds can have more justification because AT LEAST, for most of the people the food tastes good. And yeah, I know that the social aspect is also important to our survival n stuff, but think about if it's really necessary to sacrifice/risk our health for something that at first, doesn't even really taste good. And, this habits are not something really good and worth it for the younger and for the future generation to have more contribution to make this world a less fucked up one.
So you're saying that the fun alcohol lets you have is less fun than the taste of a happy-meal?
Good morning sweet princess
I don't really want to write walls of text like others before me, but I want to raise a point which I don't think a lot of you are aware of: the very first human settlements came to be because of beer. Distilleries/breweries were the heart of early settlements, because pure drinking water was a rare commodity (and diseases suck ass when you don't have access to any medication). So while you may argue that drinking booze is just a social thing, it's been a social thing for so long that it is pretty much the norm.

Also, drinking a glass of red wine every once in a while has proven to lessen the risk of heart disease, so there's that.

I don't have any sources, but this was the topic of one of my high school history papers, and I usually researched those pretty well.

You don't actually have to drink at parties to have fun by the way. Just smoke crack like everyone else. [/sarcasm]

people settled because they figured out how to domesticate plants, several thousand years before alcoholic beverages were consumed
By settlements I mean towns, not farms. Those towns came to be because of alcohol, and since everybody went there people set up shop near the brewery with other wares.
My great grandmother used to have a glass of red wine every night, and she lived to be 98. Alcohol is safe to an extent, and calling it "poision" is not completely justified. With great alcohol comes great responsibilities.
I don't give a flyin' fladoodle

I'm saying that if the alcohol has that taste in which even a kid might probably like it then it would make more sense that the people would like to drink it. That's one of the last things logically analyzed when someone wants to consume something; the taste(at least it should be, but this society supposedly brings the taste at the top of their requirements at most foods.)

Alcohol is an extra for our food habits, right?
It has very minor essential nutritions for our health compared to all the rest of drink/foods, and, come on, this is pretty old and everyone knows at least the secondary effects. Some people with only two or three beers get dizzy a bit.

Here are some things I found about what causes alcohol on us biologically:

-Concerning the heart, it has been done studies on heart bonanzas of moderate wine consumption. In large doses, however, it increases the risk of heart attacks.

-In the circulatory system, alcohol abuse increases the resistance to blood flow, and can cause bleeding disorders.

-As for the brain, the fluidity of neuronal membranes is modified, the nervous system is damaged.

-One of the most common disorders among alcoholics are produced in liver function and its serious consequences.

-As for sexuality, it increases levels of the female hormone estrogen and reduced levels of the male hormone testosterone. For alcoholics men produces impotence and women are inhibited desire.

-The immune system weakens and deteriorates, favoring the development of diseases and infections.

-It causes serious disorders in the skin, muscles and bones. Alcoholism is associated with osteoporosis, muscle wasting with swelling and pain including the heart muscle.

The source was this one. It should be pretty obvious and considerably easy to know, doesn't really need too much research. I can easily imagine some of my uncles and people around here that has some of this problems.

And for the wine, yes, true, it could be one of the only alcoholic drinks I know that could be worth to drink. It's made differently from the other drinks like beers and liquors. When I was talking about alcohol, i was refering to those(beer/liquors) in particular, sorry for that... Also the way to create wine, ones of the principal goals are the good taste and pureness. Not like the traditional/commercial drinks(beers/liquors) which their uses are ridiculously without control in the mayority.
But if we will going to let the 'use with moderation' thing be the answer to this, then it will be just ridiculous and more like a fallacy because, in real life, there are much more people who do not drink moderately... And the very classic picture of a hangout at the end with someone on the floor completely intoxicated, or another one with two dudes, sleeping after the "great moments" all last night, or some deadly car crash and so on, is the fucking daily reality. If you are the saint/cult/mature/adult guy that always drinks 'moderately', then you are special, but contributes to let the fools continues drinking and let the consequences of a person without control of himself happens.

The alcohol as the way in which most of the people consume it, is not necessary for our socially, nutritionally, or psychological survival. And to complete, it's vastly evidenced its negative consequence to our society. But still, people go hang out and keep drinking, knowing most of this things, and keeping the 'cool style' and 'mature centenary oldfag style'. That's the point when I say "Are you stupid brah?"

Do you have another argument to say that the consumption of alcohol(discarding wine) is not stupid?
you can't just disregard a type of alcohol because it does not benefit your argument ("discarding wine"). this thread is for dummies, you can't objectively say alcohol is 'stupid' it's all just opinion. sure there are downsides to continuous and extensive alcohol consumption, but there are also downsides to drinking too much water. does that make water 'stupid'? like there are health risks to a lot of things. there's a high chance that you can get into a car accident when you drive a car everyday is driving stupid?

alcohol is strictly for recreation, the same is with soft drugs like marijuana. your personal opinion might be that alcohol is stupid because of these health risks. my personal opinion is that it's fine to have a pint with the boys every now and again. there are limits to everything, if you binge on anything there will be health risks. so I'm not sure why you're trying to convince us that alcohol is bad with these arguments; and that people are stupid for consuming alcohol.

also the 'it tastes like shit' argument is such bullshit. not sure if you've actually drunk alcoholic beverages but 90% of them taste like any other drink. the only drinks that taste like actual shit are the ones with high alcohol content (absinthe, vodka). do some research man, most alcoholic drinks aren't just completely alcohol or they wouldn't be appealing at all.
