Thing about skepticism is, you have to be skeptic about what other skeptics say. Confirmation bias, red herring, etc. are all good things to be aware of, but because of those things he mentioned, does not necessarily make the other points he makes good as well. It doesn't tie in to debunks.

He seems to avoid the fact that current science is not complete. There are processes which we have yet to understand. While modern science is backed up by data, the solution resolved may not be right. It could just fit the data.

This is true, but what I got from skimming the video was that you have to be skeptical all the time. Don't believe something as absolutely true without empirical evidence.
I think it was good video. I don't see why they kept showing pictures of vitamins, I think those are good things, but I also don't take any...

Honestly my only problem with this video is that it doesn't take into account the placebo affect that all of these things have on people. It DOES acknowledge it, but they never seem to say "A big part of the reason these things have been around for centuries is that people believe in them strongly enough that they do work enough to keep them afloat."

Also I think they were a bit soft on pharmaceutical companies. A good majority of those corporations are BS. I don't NEED a pill to cure my restless leg syndrome, especially one that makes me uber horny and want to gamble, stop telling me I do.

Aside from that though, these are things everyone should know.

Good find Skazz.

I saw your thread when you first opened it but I forgot to comment, anyways - good video, I bought the book that he recommended by Carl Sagan - I'm about 100 pages into the book and I'm loving it.

Thanks for the video.
