As for their most recent albums, Infinity on High, and Folie a Deux, I hated them at first.
But I like them now, I guess I kind of grew into them. The lead singer is incredibly good, and their drummer is great. They suck live I've heard.
I like how they don't stick with what works, I like how they try something new in every album. Instead of shitty bands like Green Day.

Then consider the differences between American Idiot and the new 21st Century Breakdown, which is already being hailed as incredible by critics. Personally, as the band got older, the shittier they got.
They used to be on par with blink-182.
Now they are on par with Nickelback.
