You have to pay for keys. The only things that drop are skins and cases.

That's disappointing. I guess I'll just sell crates to buy a key.

There's a bit of a riskier, but faster method to get a key. Betting skins/stickers on professional csgo matches at csgo lounge. If you bet your crappy skins on those matches, and win, you can double, or sometimes triple the worth of your skins(sometimes even more cause they randomly come with stickers). It's not for everyone, but it's worth a look.
