The Cursed Game
i was talking about it some time ago with saru, i shall now tell you the story of a living arcade legend, called "the cursed game" or "the game that never existed", these names earned according to it's history.
it was born in USA, more specifically Portland, in some time around 1979 and 1981. Brought to the arcades by men dressing black coats, the game was distributed by a company called "Sinneslöschen INC.".
The gameplay was a vector based game, similar to "Tempest", however for it's time the game presented awesome graphics, colors and sounds wich captured the attention of a big amount of gamers.
These men in black (how we could call them) would often come and check the machines funcionality, a owner of an arcades shop assures to have seen the men using a menu wich contained options such as "insomnia, Hypersomnia, Night terrors" and other creeping options, then when the men left he tried to access this menu but it was password protected.
The users of these machines experienced a strong addiction to the game, the couldnt stop comming back to play it constantly, and yet after playing it for hours the gamers couldnt remember what was the game about or what was it's objective.
After some time the users started having mental problems such as nightmares, sleepwalking, attitude changes, allucination and worse.
Testimonies afirm that the users could hear screams among the sound of the game, see messages in the backgrounds with phrases like "dont hurt me" or "kill" and also sometimes they could see throught the tip of the eye, shapes of demonic faces materializing on the screen.
One case of these gamers became extreme, causing the suicidal of a kid who played this game for too long.
After that exact day The users started experiensing a repulsion towards the game, they started hating it and even they didnt know why, the men in blak took the game from Portland and it was never seen again.
A copy from that game is now running around internet in order to show an attempt to recreate the game.
The truth about that game is that it contained written subliminal messages as well as auditive subliminal messages, also shapes and colors combinations that activated determined spots on the brain to cause different attitudes.
The menu was recreated as well showing the control that these men could bring upon unaware users.
i've played this game and i can tell you that it works that way, however, for the weak mind or the scared mind, it can cause the synthomes, an aware mind that knows how the game works will not be affected, me and 2 friends played this game, another friend of mine just watched. 2 of them experienced the same synthomes, the other one something different. I, having read about this game didnt get affected.
Josue and Lucas, the two friends that i mentioned, thought to have a premonition seeing the moment of their deaths and experienced a weird feeling almost like a living nightmare in the one they heard a strange sound comming from the outside, then all the sounds of the enviroment started blending in one single sound wich was unbearable, and when they were at a breaking point it stopped, however they played it for around 10 minutes each.
The other one, Cristian (we call him Asteropes), who was only watching the game experienced sleep paralysis and a often nightmare in the one he heard a dreadful voice calling him.
this game really surprised me, it's name is Polybius in case you still want to try it, you should be able to find it's recreation.
And in case you're wondering and if you didnt google it yet, Sinneslöschen means "sensorial inhibicion" or "loss of senses" in german.
