Does changing yourself so that someone else likes you count as manipulating the other person by doing a set of actions?
Because, by changing yourself, and by extension the way you appear to the person, you can gain a favorable reaction.
And I see that as a way of manipulation, because you literally change the person's actions by doing a set of actions yourself.
