It seems like vord play at first, but if you take his reply seriously, you will notice that he answered Pair's question with another metaphor.

As you remember, Pair asked how the blind man dreams of victory. Vordred replied that he sees blind dreams in people. Without blind dreams there wouldn't be any blind dreamers. It's the chicken and the egg!
