Real wushu is pretty, but it's not really a combat art.
It's basically a version of acrobatics.

No reasonable person would waste their energy flipping and spinning in actual combat.
I feel like i'm stating the obvious, but apparently many of you would disagree

No.....it's not.

Real combat is always minimalistic and to the point. Doesn't matter if it's sword combat or hand to hand.
You will not do anything that's not necessary or you will quickly get tired and get owned.

Just look at MMA. Do you see any fighters training wushu, or incorporating it's techniques? no. For a good reason.
Wushu is more a performing art than anything.

Of course not.
I'd shoot them.

Some MMA fighters mix in a complex, acrobatic move every once and a while to confuse, and possibly knock out, their opponent.

Still nowhere near like the kind of stuff in the video.
The pinnacle of 'show-off' MMA moves I've seen are either a flying knee, or spinning backfist, or upward elbow like that one Anderson Silva KO. Some use taekwondo spinning kicks too, like Cung Le.

Of course for plain combat, there are more effective styles

But for show, it's so impressive!
And unless you were a combat fighter yourself, you wouldn't really mess with a wushu master who is your size.

I'm wondering, are most of these moves sped up a bit?
The landings happen so fast, and it looks unnatural to me.
Anyone else get the feeling, or are they really just that good?
