Walking Challenge
Walking Challenge

I've been trying to walk all day. I set the mode so I had room in order to try and walk to Uke. After much trial and error, I learned how to walk a distance, but never got to Uke. With that said, I'd like someone to teach me, and I've decided that holding an event with a prize would be the best way to get some good results and challenge the creativity of those on the forum.

I've attached a few replays showing my own attempts at completing the challenge. Perhaps they will help someone come up with a solution.

THE MODE
  • Sambo.tbm
  • 500 Matchframes.
  • 500 Engage Distance.
  • You may use shift+space (1-frame ahead).

THE GOAL
  • Walk your Tori to Uke.
  • Touch Uke with any part of your body.
  • You may not touch the ground with anything but your feet.
  • You may only use the following joints (everything else must be RELAXED):
    • Pecs (Right/Left)
    • Chest
    • Lumbar
    • Abs
    • Gutes (Right/Left)
    • Hips (Right/Left)
Usage of any other joints is a disqualification. This requirement is to add a challenge to it.
THE SCORING
  • ---Base Points:---
  • Fluidity: 5 - Is the walk graceful?
  • Speed: 5 - Is the walk fast?
  • Gravity: 10 - Does the walk keep your feet on the ground?
  • Maximum Points: 20
    ---Extra Points:---
  • Stopping: 2 - If your Tori remains standing on both feet until the 500th frame, you've earned 2 extra points.
  • Dismember Uke: 4 - If you dismember any part of Uke before the 500th frame, you've earned 4 extra points. Remember the joint restriction rules apply. You may not grab.
  • Maximum Extra Points: 6
THE PRIZES
Forenote: As of right now, I only have 4k TC. I should soon have more, and therefore these prizes are based off of what I hopefully should have. If not, I will attempt to compensate the winners with items with market value equal to the prize.
FIRST PLACE: 10k TC +

SECOND PLACE: 5k TC

THIRD PLACE: 2k TC

SUBMISSIONS
  • Submit replays using the forum uploader and replying to this topic.
  • No limit to amount of submissions. Create as many unique replays as you want. However, you must choose only 2 that you want to have judged.
  • All submissions will be judged by me and only me. This is a one-man project.
  • Tournament ends on Friday, January 29th, at 21:00 (9:00 PM) GMT. That's 16:00 (4:00 PM) Eastern US/CA.

Note: Please let me know if I'm missing anything. This is the first event I've held and I'm not sure if I'm missing something.

This is way more successful than I thought it'd be. Thanks for participating.

Now to get the TC rewards... my items still haven't sold. D:!
Tournament Over - Judgement:

Dragenon:
Entry 1 3RD PLACE!
Fluidity: 3/5 - The walk is fairly staggered, often dropping low then coming back up.
Speed: 3.5/5 - Impact point around frame 215. This is fast.
Gravity: 8.5/10 - The walk keeps both feet on the ground very well, without much loss of balance throughout the replay.
Stopping: 2 - You were able to remain standing at the end of the replay, effectively earning 2 extra points.
Total Points: 17/22 - Very Good.

Entry 1
Fluidity: 2/5 - The walk seems very off-balance and in a struggle to maintain balance.
Speed: 1.5/5 - Impact point around frame 100. This is quite slow.
Gravity: 3.5/10 - The walk is constantly struggling to maintain balance, and it seems like pure luck that the Tori was able to get to Uke.
Total Points: 7/20 - Below Average.
Entry 2 2ND PLACE!
Fluidity: 4.5/5 - The walk was fairly well balanced and seemed a bit more like a run. However, it maintained balance well and seemed very controlled.
Speed: 5/5 - Impact point around frame 280. This is extremely fast.
Gravity: 8/10 - The walk was very well controlled, with the only problem being the balancing on toes. Seemed like a ballet dance, but a good one.
Total Points: 17.5/20 - Very Good.

Squiziph
Entry 1
Fluidity: 1/5 - The walk is a bunch of small jumps, making it very non-fluid.
Speed: 4.5/5 - Impact point around frame 250. This is very fast.
Gravity: 5/10 - Though the balance was well done, the small jumps made the feet leave the ground far too commonly.
Stopping: 2 - You were able to remain standing at the end of the replay, effectively earning 2 extra points.
Total Points: 12.5/22 - Average.
Entry 2
Fluidity: 2.5/5 - It was fine during the beginning half, but when the foot goes up and stops, it starts getting more of a struggle to reach Uke than a walk towards victory.
Speed: 3/5 - Impact point around frame 210. This is slightly faster than average.
Gravity: 3/10 - The ending foot lift and the jump towards Uke completely killed the gravitational balance in the walk.
Stopping: 2 - You were able to remain standing at the end of the replay, effectively earning 2 extra points.
Dismember Uke: 4 - You were able to dismember Uke, effectively earning 4 extra points.
Total Points: 14.5/26 - Above Average.

Veliar
Entry 1 1ST PLACE!
Fluidity: 4/5 - It seemed a bit off balance at points, but the actual walk looked very realistic, which amazed me.
Speed: 2.5/5 - Impact point around frame 200. This is about average.
Gravity: 7.5/10 - Very good control over the gravity for the first 2/3 of the walk. After that, it's a struggle to attack Uke. However, during the walk itself, it was quite well controlled.
Dismember Uke: 4 - You were able to dismember Uke, effectively earning 4 extra points.
Total Points: 18/24 - Very Good.

As I mentioned in the first post, it was possible that I didn't actually have all the TC to be rewarded. I'll be contacting the winners through private message to see what I can do to compensate them accordingly. This was caused by my main buyer closing his shop off to anything but forces/relaxes a day after this competition was created. I apologize for the inconvenience.

I'm still insanely poor. I'm still trying to get to 10k in order to give to the 1st place winner. If a deal I'm making works out soon, then it shouldn't be too much longer.

Take A Look
I KNO THIS DONT COUNT

;_; trying to jack a thread?

First of all, that replay is invalid because you violated the rules.
Second of all, the event is over, why the hell would you come here and post your replay. Should have posted here http://forum.toribash.com/forumdisplay.php?f=10
