Look what you've done, you've gone and made the hamr post. You people are terrible people. Also, Condoms work, /debate.

No. It becomes inert due to the gaps in the chromatids being filled.

Except they actually don't work as much as people believe they do. Way to fail.
Doesn't the egg shoot lasers at incoming sperm?

<suomynona> It might kill you, but, that's the worst it'll do

Yes. A lot of sperm die at the egg.

Thanks for proving my point. Way to be taught something completely wrong, bro.

Not through artificial insemination = I win. lol
Plus I doubt you need more than one to "drill" the fucker... At least all of the documentaries and books I've seen/read don't talk about it and don't show collective/cooperative drilling on the same hole. lol
A lot of sperms might get to the egg, but only one (the first to penetrate it - which happens to be a healthy sperm cell) makes it inside and then yes, the egg gets the protective membrane that prevent other sperm cells from penetrating it. When more than one makes it inside (very, very rare from what I've heard/read) there is a possibility of having semi-identical twins when and IF the egg have been previously split in identical halves.

in the case of artificial insemination the sperm is injected into the ovum and thus the barrier is not an issue. However, other methods involve submerging the ovum in hordes of sperm, in which case the same thing still takes place.

This is completely unrelated to sex education, because artificial insemination does not occur during sex. Sorry, bro.

The sex education system is so poor that people think modern biology has a place in it.

Bros, how are we going to fix this?

Sex education usually tackles info about artificial insemination too. They also talk about the importance of hygiene, healthiness, behaviors and so on. All of the major surrounding topics are important when it comes to sex education because everything is interconnected and its important to be informed about them. And fertility treatment sure is an important issue to be approached. Not just strictly sex-related topics. I even remember about being taught about breast and prostate cancer during a sex education session when I was at school.

I agree that the general sex education system is poor, at least here in Portugal where I live. However recently it looks like there were some improvements on it (namely: a dedicated/independent discipline being taught at schools), but I'm not sure because I'm 24yo now, and I'm working, not studying.

I fail to see why a 10 year old would ever need to be taught that in sex education lessons...

Unless you are referring to sex education when you are older, in which case, we have Biology for that.
