chrome is a more light weight browser overall than firefox, the features within chrome are more in the background where as firefox has it's features in the foreground where you can see them. firefox has alot of security features which are excellent but overall the eye candy (which on windows 7 i think chrome looks alot better) is what slows down firefox to a certain degree.
