But yeah, I can almost do it. I'm out of shape and all (213lb, 5ft 11in), and I can run about .8 of a mile. I've improved dramatically from not being able to jog a half a mile. I'm going for a mile and a half by the end of 2011

I recommend you guys go try it out. Go on google maps or something, and try and map out a mile somewhere, on some road. See how you do. I can achieve one mile in about 9 minutes, too. I'm working on improving that aswell.

How in shape are you guys?

Get out of the dark, and go run.

naah i once ran 10km in
"Run Warsaw" event in Poland it tooked me 1hour and 5 minutes something like that ;P
i recommend 1 kilometer run ;P

I'd wish you good luck, but according to what you just said you clearly don't need it. Aim for sub 3 hours!

I used to be able to run a route that was approximately 2.7 miles in 14:32. That was in the peak of my training, before I discovered alcohol and tobacco. Now I would probably be running a 5:30-6 minute mile.

No he doesn't. You can't run for 8 miles at an average speed of 16mph unless you're a world class athlete.

Eh, I think I've finished a mile in 5-6 minutes, but I'm not really the running type. I'm more of the weight lifter guy, standing at 5'11, 147 lb, and benching a peak of 225.

1 mile is about 1600 metres.

Probably, I'll try it this weekend. I'm like 5'4 and about 125 pounds, flat feet if that makes any kind of difference.

Long distance running does have it's obstacle but, how far can everyone here sprint? Sprint as in run fast (Not like super excertion type fast, but more a speedy jog?)
My seniority means you should probably just agree with everything I say
