you have to like your own art.
CnC is something that you can absorb and use in another projects, but if it will make your work "worst" for you, you don't have to use it.
It's like a shirt.... would you use a shirt that everyone likes (but you don't) just because everyone like?
Yeah, worst example ever.

The point is, he saw what is wrong, and probably he know it's wrong, but just won't change, cause "he like it the way it is", being able to use the tips in another project.

The biggest mistake by a designer coming directly out of school is believing everything everyone has told you prior to graduation day. Throughout their childhoods, and all levels of education, creative types are told by many that they are so great and so talented. Reality will hit, when the door of the school smacks a recent design graduate in the rear-end, as they head out into the big, bad world. That’s when one’s true design education begins.
