Sorry, but I am still a little confused about what you mean by dependance. Do you mean that we as a race would literally not be able to function properly or do you mean computers or phones becoming the largest parts of peoples lives?

He's asking if we'll face an existential crisis if computers suddenly disappeared. Will the human race die, in other words.
Many people just waste their lives on computer cause they're too 'pussy' or no 'long term determination' to get some more swag stuff going on with their life (like idk success / passion / rich life / sexy sweet gf woman)

I mean it's not worth spending 6+ hours a day on computer if it impacts your life negatively or even messes up your vision. I believe the vision (from eyes) is the most important human sense, so it's really stupid to mess it up and go glasses, especially before 20 or in your 20s

I heard you can fix it with laser surgery, tho. Not sure how much would that cost and is it even safe
There's actually no evidence to suggest that lots of screen time has a long term impact on vision. It does cause short term eye strain, but if you take a nap, that should go away quickly. Everything else I agree with, adding only that some people are able to spend tons of time in front of a screen doing nothing but browsing scrubby forums and playing games and still be able to have a social life and be successful.
All it takes is one bad day to reduce the sanest man alive to lunacy. That’'s how far the world is from where I am. Just one bad day.

Indeed I do kind of get eye strains sometimes. You are 100% correct that it goes away if you take a nap. I do browse scrubby forums and playing games since I don't have a lot of things to do. I have no social life LOL

This me everyday when I'm on the computer because I'm even on the computer for 6+ hours a day.

Well wearing glasses is stupid indeed which is why I always turn on the lights when it is night so I don't have to keep staring at the computer screen for hours and hours. It is better when you take breaks from the computer so that you keep yourself enjoyed or just doing homework. I like playing on my PS3, watching television, or go to sleep.

Some people just get more fulfilment out of technological or computer based interactions than from social or energetic ones. While never going outside or doing exercise and having abnormal or unhealthy eating and sleeping cycles is likely to ruin your health to a massive extent, some people just don't care about that. I believe that they should at least make a decent effort at other possible activities before becoming so committed to a lifestyle but I feel the same way about people who have never heard of amazing computer games or websites (Only 1 kid my school year in our house (as in a school boarding house) common-room (about 10 people) had heard of "The Stanley Parable" and he had never played it. It is probably a similar degree of ignorance towards Garry's Mod or even Valve. Only about three of then know what "Steam" is and likely even fewer are aware of "Valve". All the things they have not experience sometimes genuinely saddens me a little. I can sympathise with their position and since I have also been in activities in which the majority of people are much more Internet cultured than me to the point of me feeling slightly alienated (two kids who building 64-bit computers in minecraft back when I had only just discovers the game and a few of then knowing pretty advanced programming).

I think that as long as you are happy doing what you are doing and your lifestyle is sustainable then you have no reason to change it, but that sometimes it pays to seek happiness in more than one place.

I hope you can kind of see how the personal stuff in this is relevant. Anything said without experience is mere speculation.

Without the internet/electronics I assume a third of the teenage-young adult population would suicide.

I think that answers the topic question.

To sum it up, if someone's happier on the computer, let them be.
Well pretty much I'm happier on the computer. Computers aren't so bad. Sometimes I am too dependent on computers since I really don't do much on them, but computers are sometimes the way of life. You can use the internet and stuff like that and even play games like TORIBASH. You can also use computers to look up a certain thing even when you're doing your homework. It's not such a bad thing.

Do you do anything besides try to persuade someone of an opinion they already have?
