Secret Santa 2024
I don't think that within those nearly infinite number of possibilities is a move that is any way better than what we've come up with. Betabox, for example, the 'metagame', or most effective and common move is to kick, or grab the kick. You cannot move yourself over a larger distance in 20 frames to do anything else but that. It just can't be done, sorry.

Then I have a question: have you ever tried, or considered trying developing a move that does not relate to a snapkick or a sidekick?`

Your claim here is that "the most effective and common move is to kick, or grab the kick". Well yeah, but this opens for a wide array of moves, an array that I can guarantee is wider than the moves that are being used at the moment. If you look at the numbers, and try to interpret the size of them, and you'll understand what we're talking about.
wow u guys are math whizez o.o

some one should make a script where you give uke all the known openers and it randomly modifies a few joints........then i think we could easily discover quite a few hundred other good ones

well, you also have to remember that a rather large amount of these theoretical openers would be nothing more the modifying a single joint and nothing else. I don't know how to do the math, but for each joint, in each state of the joint, there is an "opener" that makes up part of the huge numbers you guys are talking about. Then there is the even bigger number of totally useless openers of joint combination's, i.e. extend neck, extend wrist. All of this sort of thing may make up a surprising bulk of the numbers.

However, this does nothing to discredit the simplistic genius of the game. Or make it any less surprising that the game isn't bigger among gamers.

Cmon, you care if I sig your impressive first post? Just the last part with the bold.

You don't understand: there is nothing better than kicking. You are using the largest movable limb at the highest possible speeds to strike your opponent; you will never generate enough speed over 20-30 frames (30ish being the ideal number of frames it takes to hit your opponent), with any other move.

I'm aware of the quantity of possible openers, but surely you cannot count on say, contracting just a foot? Or extending the neck and extending both hands? They do nothing.

While I disagree that they do nothing, I do agree on move effectiveness. MOST of those moves are essentially duplicates of an effective move, or subpar. I'm sure we don't have EVERY good move developed yet, but currently kicking IS better.
I dont necassarily throw out creativity, i play aikido and i generally just random click joints some of the time since i mostly end up losing no matter what.

Okay? This doesn't contribute at all, please think before posting. ~Dalir
