Secret Santa 2024
Well that's definitely true, you have to put a lot of time into Toribash to do cool things, and that is time you have to spend well. It's not an MMO where you can mindlessly grind for 40 hours and have epic gear, you need to spend 40 hours practising and learning to do epic tricks.

For many people they don't see the game as epic enough to invest the time. Perhaps the solution is to increase the hype, make high skill players extremely visible and make high skill plays extremely well known.

Things like leaderboards, leagues, play montages, earned items, etc, can go a long way to making player skill seem like a huge achievement.

If you were top 1% in Wushu would you even know it? It doesn't seem to be as rewarding as it should be in a hardcore player skill game.

another part of the problem,
the non existent end-game,besides getting a belt achievement,
there is no sense of completing something,no reward, nothing special.

For me when i reached custom belt and played my first games as a custom,
seeing that i needed 30000 games for the next belt,i was like "screw this,i'm out of here" only to return 3 years later with another mindset for the game to
"just play"

basically there is nothing else to do for the old players than to
"just play"

The old ranking system let you know how high up the ranks you were in a specific mod or globally. I really wish they kept this system, it gave you something to fight for and it worked fine. Now you have to go into ranked lobbies or specific tournaments to gain a rank, then grind your way to rank 1 on the same 4 mods. I don't see why we made such a system that only really appeals to advanced players and then decide to give out TC when we were so keen on sinking TC at the time. And it's obvious this current system isn't for everyone when only around 1500 people care enough to play a ranked match, and even less continue playing ranked matches to get rank 1. It's literally a fight between about 5 players and I know this because I am in game quite a lot. I even tried to get ranked up myself and got bored after 2 ranked matches, it just isn't 'fun'. It's like fighting in a serious mod for TC (well, that's literally what it is), it isn't enjoyable but you're doing it because there's a prize in the end but many players get bored and stop caring.

i had made a similar suggestion, how it could bring the fun back in the game if there were ranks for every mod but some mods had a different oppinion, that just having a rank without it being competitive would have no meaning.

So what do we need?

Tiered leagues? Better matchmaking? Mod pools? Progress tracking? Seasons? Prizes at the end of season and smaller tc for each match?

Better matchmaking would be good, but with very few and pretty inactive in game devs Im not sure how realistic it is.

I disagree that the old system is better than the new system, the new system sure is not optimal but I cant really find any way of justifying judging the old one as superior.
Don't dm me pictures of bowls that you find attractive.
A good example of a under moderated forum is the replay board, read the rules for yourselves they're just shitty which (i'm guessing) is why people don't even give real cnc anymore, the rules are so lenient you could basically shit post and post farm all you want.
Now if off topic were had the same amount of leniency just like replays i doubt anyone would use it and it would just be a pile of shitty posts but if we we're to change the rules a little bit to make it less strict, who's to say it wouldn't get better.
I'm not too happy with how new rules are currently being discussed/handled personally in market squad there are plenty of nice rules that can be added most of them should have been done a long time ago but it's not that these ideas are bad or take a lot of work. There isn't anyone to really discuss the rules with no real higher input, just most of us saying yeah that's fine then nothing happens. I don't think the rules should be completely redone just more open to new ones.
“Aaah rum zum zum aaah rum zum zum booly booly booly booly booly rum zum zum”
or stop producing TC all together?

What if they just stopped generating TC and the only way you're going to make TC is marketing, dueling, and bet servers. it'd also make events way more appealing.

what? You guys can change the rules, you have people to discuss them with, it's been done before many times, all you need is one guy to take initative and push it.
