It was curious because I would've thought you would have used a song that you thought had no flaws for your argument pro-Gilmour.

And you still have no idea what you're talking about. Songs like Lucifer Sam and Astronomy Domine from Piper are genius works, and worth so much more than that sell-out money grab that was the Division Bell.
So, by what I gathered from you and your elitism, you don't care about the riffs only because they've sold out? That doesn't make sense. I also can't stand Syds vocals. Roger and Gilmour were better by far and better musicians. I also can't stand the up beatness to songs and Astronomy Domine was the best song on that album by far as well. Shine On You Crazy Diamond was a better song though. Espeically live on July 21st 2007 Vanouver. Even Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun was a lot better than most of the the first album. A bit boring though. It's cool that they put good use of the Phrygian Scale to give it it's dark sound.
the Div. Bell was ridiculous. Gilmour even let his wife write the damn lyrics! And they're awful. Pink Floyd had no place in 1996, and without Waters, the only person giving the band any direction after Syd left, the album they made was bloated and pretentious. I don't care how you thought "the riffs" were. There's so much more than that to think about when judging an album. How about how the band hadn't evolved musically since 1979? Doesn't that matter?

You think it was all waters? How about the final cut wich was pretty much all Waters. It was terrible.

It wasn't all Waters, but his total and complete absence ruined the album. He was smart enough to know that Floyd was done, and had no place in the 90s.
A band can't get better with more than 20 years of age. That's ridiculous. I do say that I didn't like the Division Bell all that much anyways. Marooned was a a good song. Sadly the only song I like on that album and I thought the lyrics on the first album and the last were inferior. Pink Floyd at it's best was obviously at 1973 to 1979. I also agree Pink Floyd in the 90s is kind of a joke.

Waters was kicked out of the band because he was an asshole. Nice try though.

In response to the above post, meddle was amazing. 1971-79 was pure awesome.

I didn't mean to make it appear that I believed that Waters left for that reason. My point was that in retrospect, Waters has said how much of a joke the Division Bell Was. And really, Pink Floyd was great with Syd, and say what you want, but there'd be no Wish You Were Here without him, not to mention what he actually did with the band.
