The reason you lost momentum is because your chest was already rotated the way you wanted it to go. You rotated it back to the left so you could rotate it to the right and gain momentum, but once you rotate it to the left, the force of that spin will keep going. So, for that, rotating to the right would just cancel out your spin.

This isn't much, but from your position, I could only get a low hit.
