I don't understand the huge craze. If you look around the internet, there are so many people who claim that they would like to have a zombie apocalypse. I don't believe it to be possible, but if it were to every happen, it would be horrifying. Imagine a world where a good amount of the population is dead, and you are unable to rest without the thought of dying.

Social outcasts aren't exactly uncommon on the internet, and you already know what I have to say regarding the average person's capability of experiencing empathy to any significant degree.


Then we would live as most other animals do, and some would find this liberating.

Personally, though I would not claim a preference for a zombie apocalypse (as I would not find thrill from such a situation even in the form of escapist fantasy), I wouldn't mind it terribly either. It is simply exchanging one set of hardships for another; those hardships associated with our modern society with its problems of doubting one's own worth, seeking one's purpose and place in the world, and dealing with slow-killing afflictions of a biological/mental/"spiritual" nature (e.g., cancer/depression/existential crises) are no less horrifying than the purer, more basal struggles of survival in an empty world. Many people would trade their current problems with those problems of living through a zombie apocalypse.

Is anyone familiar with the Mafia party game?

I've never played the actual "Party Game", but I have found this to be very similar.

TownOfSalem is a ramped up version of the Mafia game, to avoid most of the players just sitting around during night phases. In the normal Mafia, there are just Mafia, Civvies, Doctor, and sometimes a Vigilante or Inspector (Inspector works as ToS Sheriff in normal Mafia). No Mediums (though that would be interesting if it were able to be moderated), Executors or Jesters.

Some would argue that it's more boring that way, but at the same time, there is a lot more time for deliberation and being sure of your choices to lynch or not to lynch someone. ToS is notorious for forcing players to bad decisions because they feel pressured by the 45 second clock. I am guilty of this as well.
