A wreck in the 4 way block of Main Street in Fordyce, occurred at 4:15 p.m. on Friday, May 24th.

Fordyce Police Ofr. Shawn Pratt said he issued a citation to the driver of a white Chevrolet Tahoe who failed to yield while attempting to make a left-hand turn and under the influence of alochol.

The driver of a black Chevrolet Monte Carlo was struck by the Tahoe attempting the turn.

Damage to the Monte Carlo resulted in an immediate oil leak from the engine. Capt. Ronald Hives, acting Fire Chief on the scene, and Capt. Gordon Lipscomb treated the area with oil-dri, a granular absorbent used on oils, coolants and other liquid spills.

The female driver of the Monte Carlo was rushed to the ER with a concussion, while the male driver of the Cherolet Tahoe was killed from being flown out of the windshield for not wearing a seatbelt.

Fordyce Police, Fordyce Fire/Rescue and local EMS units all responded to the scene.

Eyewitnesses to the collision said they saw the Tahoe driver swerving and then saw the Monte Carlo pull out from a turn and saw the Tahoe smash into the side of the car.
