Excuse me, but how, exactly, do those terms apply to my mindset? "Harsh"- I don't endorse, enable, or support these acts in any way. "Unmerciful"- how can I be merciful when I have no power over the situation? Should I write letters to Red Cross and beg them to send humanitarian aid to these chicks?
As for my recommendation to get over and forget about the whole ordeal, think about this; absolutely nothing you can say would change the industry's mind on the matter. Unless you intend on sending armed groups of combatants to raid these factories, then you can't really do jackshit about the situation. Dejectedly moping around won't change anything- indeed, just by thinking and dwelling on these examples of negativity, you're being pretty counterproductive. If you want to wallow in pity over some animals you don't even know, please realize your efforts are more or less useless. Ergo, they're utter wastes of time.
tl;dr: You're making a deal out of common poultry being killed.
Really? It's not like this is mass genocide. The male chicks have nowhere to go and it's not like there are many people who would adopt so many chicks, and killing them is a lot more considerate than say shipping them off to random places and hoping they have a decent yet haphazard life. The females end up eaten for food and lay eggs as long as they can, these things aren't being killed for sport.
Also- by your thread title, I guess I can assume you have qualms about the disposal methods of the male chicks. Being dropped into a giant grinder and ground to a mess in seconds sounds like a quick death. Would you rather they toss all the chicks into a giant fire? Maybe gas them with poisonous materials? Blast them into the sun?
