I can relate to Avwave about many things.

I tend to be verbose, both online and off. That's in part because I can't figure things out properly before starting to talk/type, and in part because that's how I like it. I use "posh" words and structures more online, as well as other rhetorical means, in both English and Finnish. More so in English, though.

For some reason I more readily perceive normal English as art (compared to normal Finnish that is), for which reason I prefer to write prose in English. For poetry Finnish is at least on par, but I'm picky about that and don't think I have talents for poetry myself. I like good Finnish song lyrics though, often more than English ones. That may be because they tend to be from Finnish bands.

I'm almost more at home with English online, and vice versa offline. I'm pretty fluent in English I guess, but talking face to face I haven't got the time to look for the words right on the top of my tongue, so I often have to resort to talking around them. After a day or two of constant exposure, though, it becomes more natural.

I love being able to type, because my handwriting is unintelligible.

I'd say online I'm definitely more assertive, the lack of physical presence and the ability to instantly back up any argument makes online discourse more interesting to me.

I'm pretty much the same, except I sub-consciously dumb down my vocabulary in real life.

Ya, TBH, im more shy IRL. i guess its just the wondering what the other person will do. in real life, they could kill you. but on the computer, they can yell at you, if you choose to listen. its more relaxed. and by where you are posting, you know that the people will have a similar mindset (eg, talking about a game in real life, compared to a gaming forum) its like you almost know the person before you meet them

Basically this, only i act a bit more mature online compared to how i am irl. I'm pretty sexual in person. Just saying.

Seeing as how I will most likely not ever meet you guys, I act however the fuck I want. In real life I'm shy and quiet.

You have to take into mind that the only thing that keeps us in line, generally, is the fear of consequence. Why don't a rape the hot chick in my neighborhood? Because I would get arrested and everything else. On the internet, where are these boundaries? I can cuss you out all over the internet, and you can't do shit. Would I do that to you in real life? Not unless I wanted a broken nose. Restrictions are different on the internet, and it affects the way people act.

Well i admit to being different online then i am in real life, but not by much...
I feel safer knowing that no one knows who i am on this instead of being in real life, because then i can make mistakes and kick back, but then again if your a total shy nerd in real life and try to act all cool and act like a total ass to everyone you don't like, or that your better then. But no ones perfect. I admit that i used to act like that when i first started but then i quickly stopped.
Now if i am a ass to someone it's because they have pissed me off or done something incredible stupid.

Well I would hope people are different online vs offline!!!
Since there aren't many lasting personal effects of being a total dick online, a lot of people do that, maybe releasing personal stress? Dunno, but I like to think that they are just troubled dudes irl. Maybe even nice dudes!

But yeah, my persona is just a more exaggerated me. Not as crude as irl in some situations though, like in those on-the-moment situations where you say something and immediately regret it. At least online, you have a second to read over what you say before you post or comment.

I suppose I'm the same. I think I feel safer using words most others wouldn't comprehend, or that you wouldn't normally have in a conversation. Though, I'm pretty much the same relaxed person.
