It was specifically made like that by the lead guitarist Jimmy Page. I think he thought it would be ironic to write a song about heaven, to be played backwards and be satanic. It doesn't help that Jimmy was a satanist though.

I bet it's pretty childish to say this, but it's my favorite song and has been one for a while now. That's why it's the song I want to hear when I die.
