how about only +repped people can -rep other people?

iunno, that doesnt really work, but some sort of rules like that.
besides, i'm not sure if they have that much power over the board system.

I think the rep system as it is now is pretty pointless! It should either not be in effect at all, or not be anonymous. Having anonymous -rep and only knowing the thread it came from is so stupid! I got -rep for using 2 smileys in 1 post the other day! That little red icon just hangs there in your profile saying "This guy has a bad reputation in this community" for whatever stupid reason some anonymous people decide to e-slander you for! Stupid useless rep!

by the way... +rep to Patrick for starting this thread, LOL!

Edit: or not, I guess I gotta go +rep other people first... blagh, forget it, rep is dumb!

I agree with AlexOwnz people should have a right to an opinion. I hate alot of people, but i dont go spamming -reps on them. I only -Rep if its a dull ass post.

I can understand "COLORSPAM" but I mean the one ^ is just plain stupid.

I've seen people give excessive +rep for the slightest things and give negative rep for just randomness (i got a -rep for a topic I closed 6 months prior).

IMO, the best solution would be to remove the rep count, w/e, and just keep the comments.
If someone has something useful to say, it is said.
If it is not useful, it is as if it doesn't exist.

Not a bad idea 666. It'd probably be a more effective system if the point system was removed and was replaced with pure comments. That way you can see who's being serious and who's leaving a comment for no reason whatsoever.

Karma and rep both are horrible IMHO.

If you don't like somebody or their comments, let them know about it. Have some guts.

If you like their comments or them, send them creds or a nice memo.

If rep is useless, just remove it.
