There are two stories behind this image. The first comes from the history of Toribash, dating back to the days in which Toribash was shareware.


For those of you curious about the version history, the first Toribash public release, up to version 2.0, was considered a beta. Come the release of 2.0, Toribash became shareware, with a cost of $20 (or $10 if you caught the pre-order promotional deal) if you wanted to be able to save replays, use a custom head texture, and have a belt and rank that was permanently saved on the server.


Once you paid your fee, you received a serial code, which would register the game once entered into the application, and be attached to your in-game name (This was before the forums were as closely linked with the Toribash application).


As of Toribash version 3.0, it became freeware, with boosters and qi available for purchase on the Torishop. Some members who had paid for the application were a little off-put that it was free, and so a new graphical tag was added to any user that had a valid Toribash registration code: “Old Schooler.”


The second part of the story behind this image is the head of Xzibit, rapper, actor, and host of MTV’s show, Pimp My Ride. His face has become a recent Toribash community meme, spread across the board by the Old Schooler forum members.
