not that this is what the discussion is about but, the homosexual community has grown. Its much more wide and open compared to before. if anything its already been threw the worst

No I do not believe racism is more of a problem than homophobia. I'm simply
saying that it's a bit more of a sensitive subject because of what happened.

Indeed, the homosexual community is making strides in its bids for equality (at least in Europe and the US, in some African countries homosexuality is still a crime punishable by death). But I feel that using derogatory terms perpetuates the ignorance that slows this progression.

I agree with nearlydead. racial slurs are sensitive. with few having an issue with homophobic its not an "issue" when insults occur they will be banned same as racial insults.

You both have missed my point, which is that it's disappointing that homophobic remarks aren't met with the same "sensitivity" as racial ones. You claim that racism is more sensitive because of it's history, implying the opposite about homosexuality. You both argue that since the gay community is smaller than the black community it's less important to deal with homophobia than racism. This is an unacceptable viewpoint as far as I'm concerned.

original question. I did not say that homophobia isn't that much of a thing as racism is.
gay marriage is a here and now problem. Racism certainly still exists, but that problem
was dealt with.
