You can barely DO anything in the game besides create creatures and then run around- it's not interactive enough. It in fact seems that the main point of the game is aesthetic. DEFINITELY not worth it.
If you want the only good part of Spore (communo-creativity) then save up for Little Big Planet! Besides being, as was commented by many top-notch reviewers, the essence of fun, judging on a simple demo it's extremely interactive, everything in game is dynamic to create an astounding level of realism, and making levels is as easy as bringing up a cross-media bar.
Spore: 3/10. Over-hyped suckage.
I had the torrent a few days before it came out and I had so much fun that I paid for it. If you didn't like it, thats just because you aren't awesome enough to try creative things with your creatures. This is the only game I've ever played that allows me to make a planet that looks like cake and has creatures that look like cake living on it. Seriously, experiment and it will be an amazing experience of win.
