If we're heading down the medial route I can bring in some experience here.

I'm currently full time carer for my mother who has MS (Multiple Sclerosis) and it's one of the things that medical marijuana is being tested on. She's firmly against it purely because she's got a thing against drugs.

However there's a lot of people with MS that are quite happily tooting away on it.

When it comes to the MS get together their society has you can plainly see who's using and who isn't - simply put, the ones that are using are quite happily getting on with it & enjoying their life. The ones that aren't are constantly complaining about aches, muscle spasms & various other things that's part of it. It's not a matter of them puffing away till they're mashed, just so they are physically comfortable.

If you missed the point there then I'll spell it out. Smoking it has given people that would otherwise have a pretty grim existence a better quality of life.

He was referring to the process of natural selection. His theory is that all of the stupid, weak people with addictive personalities will abuse drugs. They become a lot less likely to succeed at life, and, therefore, are less likely to procreate. They abuse drugs, are less likely to procreate, and "weed themselves out."

<<< hasn't read every page of this discussion. But yes, in a perfect world, weed would be legal. Im guessing people have already touched on the fact that weed is less damaging, both physically and mentally then alcohol. Not to mention very few people probably get high and beat their wife, comparatively speaking.

Bottom line, as far as I have seen, is that it is mainly illegal because it brings in a much larger amount of money to the govt. in the form of everything from petty arrests, to multi million dollar busts. The fact is that weed being illegal is far too lucrative a business.

Well with what you just said, I have this to say.

At least cigarettes don't make you high, weed is like alcohol in smoke form. Driving under the influence law would be rendered only for alcohol if Marijuana was legalized, so how about you go drive while high and see how healthy that is? Or better yet, let's have EVERYONE do that and see how the outcome is.

Mary J is classified as a drug because it dramatically temporarily decreases motor skills and the ability to think, unlike cigarettes. Cigarettes don't get you high, but they have a worse health effect than mary j, whilst mary j only decreases motor skills with less health defects. It's a fine line between which should be legalized and which should be outlawed, because compared to each other, they have negative and positive effects that makes them basically equal in different effects, so they keep them the same.
