Hmm I like it. change the eye shape to a simpler one and shade the eyes.
The overall feel is there. Can you try going with minimalistic war-paint, rather than the scratch marks? I want to see how that would fit. Check how some indigen face war-paint looks like and try to mimick that model but with straight, more simple lines.

I changed how the scars looked, but I tried changing the eye shape and none of them really fit in with the head overall, so I just left it the same and shaded it a bit.
