HTOTM: FUSION
For me, someone who is good in sparring and doesn't care about points and shit.

Disagreeing with you Silent.
Someone who goes around in a betting server for 2 hours, bragging about their ub3r 1337 pwnage skillz. Makes it to top of queue. Looses to a white belt who doesn't shovel or lift.

But for me a nice long spar, where the other person doesn't cry about how you're being unrealistic or attacking too much. Just doing whatever I want because I'm feeling lazy.

My favorite kind of match is where both combatants are actively participating, but neither is trying to win by using cheap moves and lots of grappling. I like having more control over matches, so turnframes would have to be from 10 to 30. But basically, if my opponent is an intelligent player who at least tries to do interesting moves(even if he fails), I can respect him a lot more and I can have more fun with the match. People who run or use similar openers/strategy/attack patterns every time, those I actively try to avoid. The point of games is to have fun, no? if you get annoyed by playing a game, that very game has defeated its purpose and is worthless, at least to me. Of course there are exceptions(if you're trying to learn something from playing games, it isn't always fun), but I'm never competitive enough to try to win at any cost. Humility in victory and defeat, I really can't understand what's so hard about it.

I have to agree with you onthat one lordtiger.

I think the best matches are spars where the other has enough smarts to realise that staying on your feet is a benifit and thinking about the striking tactics are the best . Alot of players will try to hit there opponent as hard as they can ( wich does work somtimes) to get more points , but then they have to regain there balance. Especialy when it is blocked and the opponent is still standing .

I wouldnt call it pulling a punch but lets say you throw a right hook and since your pec is contracting with that hook , the force knocks you off balance when it connects . Its always a bitch to recover and hit again , so why not relax that pec while your torso is rotating ? This alows you to throw a good connecting punch and also alows you to follow through with a left hook without falling over .

Relaxing most of you body just before you connect ( weather its a kick or punch) can also keep you steady and balanced . Players who fight like this make matches interesting .
I'm just going to randomly change the topic to something that's helpful to what I'm doing right now.

If you've checked the Design Events thread, which most of you probably haven't, you'll notice that I'm making a video. A piece of the replays aren't good enough for me too use, their not destructive enough, or aren't appealing to the eye. You know what I mean. If it's not too much trouble, I'd like to ask if you guys could post a couple tricking/parkour replays. I won't generally be needing madmans, I've got most of my madmans from Jisse, Spry, you know. Yup, just post them in the replay thread if you can.

BTW. The song I'm using is I Can't Stop by Flux Pavilion.

Also Trichard, that last time is gonna help me improve my sparring, I've lost most of my skill due to my focus on school and SP, thanks.

@Dcsigs: I really can't help you in that department, sorry =/ There should be plenty of replays that fit your requirements, do you specifically want to use some of ours?

@clan:

New topic, I guess. When do you feel most happy? What is the activity that really does it for you, what do you have to be doing in order to feel extremely happy and content? Please be as detailed as you can be bothered to be in your answer, this is an interesting question and I expect that the responses will vary greatly.

Meh, doesn't really matter whose replays they are, however I thought it'd be nice to have some replays from the clan, doesn't make a difference though.

I'd have to say that I feel most happy, and at home either when I'm doing some parkour. I don't know why but there's just something up at my cottage where I feel so at ease while running through the forest it's beside. Maybe it's just the feeling of knowing that one of the things I excel at greatly also happens to be one of the things that most people simply can't do well, or most times at all. There's also that thrill factor I get whenever I accomplish a big jump, or manage to do something that I couldn't do the day before. I don't exactly know how to explain the feeling I get whenever I do it, but I guess I'd have to say that whenever I do parkour, when I'm not doing something insane that makes people crap their pants, it just seems to go by so fast. But then when I'm in the middle of a perfect jump over a gap, I don't know time kind of seems to slow down, and adrenaline seems to pump through my entire body. I guess I'd have to say that my senses become hyper-sharp, I kind of feel the complete texture of the bark when I swing on it, I feel the tremor of a hard landing shake through my body, and best of all, the wind rushing past my face and flowing through every gap in my clothes. In complete honesty I'd have to say it's one of the true things that I can actually feel that I was meant to do.

Also for those of you who simply believe it's just running, climbing, and sweat, there's more. It's also about the elegance and beauty of your jumps. I feel as if I just exposed a part of my soul right now, parkour is one of the few things I'm passionate about.
