you could also try different projection methods, in c4d theres a projection method called cubic, great for tiling textures, doesn't stretch the textures for things like terrain etc
uhh do you know anything about blenders gaming engine? because i know how to make a basic game with movement controls and stuff. but today i made my first animation of a walk cycle. do you know how to use the walk cycle in your game? so that when you move it looks like your person is walking. do you know how to do that?

edit: thought i'd let you know, the scene itself took about half an hour to make.

so the light setup took a day to make? I don't quite understand. for someone who's been doing 3d work for about 6 years, it shouldn't take you over an hour to get a great light setup. try switching apps, get some demos, I'm sure by the time you're done, you'll be ready to switch apps. it shouldn't take someone as skilled as you more than an hour to make a great light setup. better software will allow you to do that, enabling you to focus less on the lights, and more on the details. in the end, isn't it worth it just for that?

Hey stupinator, I've gotten an advanced blender rig up for download now, I hope I can get it stickied too

That way the two dominant programs used by the toribash community can have a rig readily available.

(it's here)

EDIT: I just made a demonstration of the new rig's capabilities:

Very nice.
I wouldn't say it's flawless, some of the dimensions are off and you have no rotation in the torso (there's always some), but the legs are very smooth.
Great work.

<Ownzilas> Alright
<Ownzilas> 3'2 then
<Ownzilas> Half PID's dick.

The lumbar is bending with each step, but you can't really see that... pah. Which dimensions are off btw? I used a background image reference when I modeled him.
The neck for one. It should be almost entirely embedded in the head. Besides, you can just mirror the dimension values from the tbm file for location and size.
Also, I meant less that the lumbar didn't bend, and more that the only rotation he has while walking is his pecs alternating forward and back, with no apparent chest rotation, or any other rotation for that matter.
Draw a line across the horizontal axis of his joints, and almost none of them pivot more than a degree or two off the normal.

Yes, I have noticed that now. I've fixed the torso width in my main rig, and am practicing with better walk cycles.

EDIT: here's a go.
