How does body movement guide our experience of music? How can create better technologies through movement and sound? These are some of the questions that we are working on in the interdisciplinary research group fourMs.
fourMs is a collaborative laboratory of the ROBIN group, Department of Informatics and the Department of Musicology. We work together to solve problems in music cognition, sensor technologies and machine learning. The common denominator is the mutual interest in studying both humans and machines as complex systems, and to analyse and synthesise such systems.
Due to several large grants we have recently expanded our labs with state of the art equipment:
Motion capture: infrared, electromagnetic and kinetic systems
Rapid prototyping: 3D printers and carving machines
Robotics: industrial and custom-built robots
