I think the ring is mandatory for public rooms, to force people to get used to it for events and tournaments ! It can still be removed manually in private rooms tho

Well private rooms isn't exactly relevant to that discussion :> The ring could be merely an aesthetic disturbance, but people will get used to it as long it provides reasonably enough freedom (need for an appropriate size of dojo).
