The above poster is wrong in so many ways.
First; Oil isn't a main component of the earths structure, nor was it ever a main component of the earth. The earth is primarily composed of Iron, Oxygen, Silicon and Magnesium. Not oil.
Secundus; just where is your proof that the earth has never undergone any rapid climate changes in the past none more so devestating than the one we've been experiencing the past 200 years? I stress again, the earth is 4 billion years old. We can only record temperatures back 500 years or so.
Think of it like this.
The universe is 15 billion or so years old. Imagine a year calender; the creation of the universe is on the first second of January the first and right now, we are living in the last second of New Years Eve, December 31st 23:59:59.
On this scale, the Earth was created near the start of September. The Dinosaurs were created Christmas Eve. The were extinct by Christmas day. Everything that has happened in the past 5000 years happened within the last 10 seconds. These last 200 years happened in the blink of an eye, half a second.
So how can you be so arrogant to say that the earth has never experienced something like this since its creation? You can't. Sure you can say it, but you don't have any evidence to support it. Your whole argument is based on nothing.
I'm tired. I'm going to go to sleep. I'll check back on this thread in the morning.

lol,u r tired, lolz, all i ment is that it a main part in the survival of the planet,ie,as is trees, water, oil, air, minerals and such,,all things needed to keep the balance of nature. i was allso just adding another part to the great debate, lol. And,i didnt say from its creation,i said "as we know",and,i said is this true or not,we will never know?
I was trying to find where i brought the universe into it,,but anyway,,and yes,we cant prove anything these days,,except what you read in a book,Hey.
My computer beats me at chess, but not at boxing!

However each is relevant to the topic, the cycle of the sun is directly affecting the earths weater...(No shit...) and So would CO2 emissions, if they were realy destroying a hole in eaths atmosphere.

Prove that oil affects the earths atmospheric temprature... and theres no such thing as an elipsi's comma (",,,").

I wouldn't say hole, but very slowly thinning our atmosphere. It could be a cycle of which actual planets with life on it goes through like Mars. Mars, so they say is where humanity came from, finding martian rocks from Mars and since most of us know that certain bacteria is almost indestructible during it's near comatose state (So it can enter atmosphere amidst, comets, meteors, debris from other planets) Back to the atmosphere. We could be heading towards what Mars is now, but not quiet as seeing as our planet is a lot smaller.

We may be saved from our gaseous atmosphere in 2012 because the Mayans predict what we would call long count and how everything on Earth is on a cycle. They predicted 5125 years, subtract that from 2012, you get 3113 BC, Mayan time. They new something is going to happen then. It could just mean we could be saved from this cycle of Global Warming or we could be just entering it now. The Antarctic coastal line did have a receding snow line which further helps the theory of the cycle of the earth which may happen every 5125 years or 10250 years or even 20500 years.
By the way im just in grade 7 so not far from gr6 and I was trying to keep the thread going after all it is mine. I think people should die out before the earth gets worse then the earth will be fine animals will live, there will be no nuclear threats earth will be a better place and global warming or cooling would come to a stand still. There would only be natrual dissasters and maybe we could try start again to do things better.

What good does that do for humans? If humans are not part of the plan, then, for lack of a better word, fuck it.

Actually according to the green house effect theory, its getting "thicker" while preventing the right amount of heat that is entering our planet from escaping out...

Anyway. I don't buy this ridiculous panicking about the global warming.
While I truly support a more conscious and efficient way of living, I don't like it when I see them looking to profit from the so called green products. All the people behind these non-independent pseudo-scientific movements such as Al Gore are fiends for money. They're not into some non-profit benign organizations. They're looking for power and money though the selling and legislating of products and conducts. To those, I don't want to support them in any way.

I recycle, I use economic lamps, I try not to waste too many water/gas/electricity and so on while trying not to pollute and do the best conscious choices I can. I think everybody should do the same. But the people trying to profit on this are some fucked up unethical bastards.
Plus I want a better study, not this ridiculous cult we have now that's damaging the credibility of the scientific community. And the promiscuity between politic interests and science is, at the very least, dangerous.

First off, if anything we are not heading towards Mars. We are heading towards Venus. Venus has an extemely strong greenhouse effect going, ground temperature easily reaching 100+. Do you even know what the greenhouse effect is?
Secondly, why the hell are you spurting shit about the Mayans now? The Mayans didn't predict anything, they just ended their calender there. Why? Probably because they ran out of room. Also, you'd be a complete idiot to believe that the earth 'resets' itself every 5125 years. The only thing that could relate to the earths cycle about this is the upcoming Ice Age. Temperatures peak before they rapidly fall.
Basically, what Mikotaku said.

I dont know much about global warming so I may be wrong but this is what I beelive.

The earth goes through warming and cooling periods it has always done this if you looked back in time and this is no different, it is simply heating up a bit and we all will adapt to the warmer weather. So yes I believe in global warming but dont see it as a problem nor that we are causing this until I see some actual proof.

the problem is, we HAVE seen proof, but now realise there's a huge scandal behind it.
