Also, 750 million in exports and 510 million in imports is a fart in a tornado to the U.S. China's trade with the U.S. totaled over 70 BILLION with the U.S. alone. Now that's what benefits look like. If an earthquake hit there I could support sending aid.

i heard that it was a pretty hard earthquake ( was it 7.0?? or was it more? )
just read it in the newspaper and was like: "WTF!!! 10k ppl died"
i will definitely spend some money to these poor ppl. who else will spend?

Of course. I never suggested Haiti rivaled world superpowers in its spending. But you asked for a reason, and if protecting a billion dollars in trade amounts to a fart in a tornado then I'm not sure what to tell you. I just thought this was about saving money in the first place. Why exactly would you deny them aid if not for that?

Actually I already know, fine well, that I can not depend on others. My family is not rich and so I have to earn my money, pay for what I need payed, and figure what I can do with the nickles and dimes I have left..

To your scenario:

In the event of my families death and potentially my own, i would grieve, but still would I believe that I can not expect anything more then nothing. For my own I would be. Survival of the fittest basically. If I was offered help yes I would take it, but as I said I know that I can not expect.

Being in the shoes I am in, I first take care of myself before others, not that I would not make an attempt to help.
