question is will smoking be considered suicide and thus sending you to hell.
the question statement assumes hell exists. you may not try to answer if you dont think so. if you think it doesnt exist, then simply state that the question cannot be asked.
You damage your body with everything you do. Even eating food. Everything has a small downside to it. hmm, I wonder if smoking can help anyone live their life more fully.
Good point... Yet I see a problem.
God sent a number of prophets, right, leaving us with judaism v.1.0. Jesus comes skipping along with christianity, which is essentially judaism v.2.0.
Then along comes Muhammad... God's final faithware update. Guess we're stuck with islam when it comes to final rulings regarding sin. Does allah grant forgiveness like Jesus does?
I'm back, I think... :)

Well, as a Christian, you would have to disregard Muhammad as a heretic.
Presuming that Bilbical hell exists (which i don't believe, if anyone cares to know), i think smokers will go there.
It doesn't help if the death is not instantaneous or that you are addicted to it (I could be addicted to burning people's houses, doesn't make it right necessarily). It's curious that in some branches of Christianity self-mortification is encouraged, but only if it's in the name of God. Smoking, on the other hand, while could be considered self-mortification (not as direct as fasting, but more direct than whipping yourself for sure) also brings pleasure, which kind of defeats the purpose. But then again, if you repent before death, your chances of going to heaven will be much higher. Of course, if you get killed instantly, like by a bullet in the head, you may just be out of luck. Meh....
Think of it another way; Smokers have helped the government by paying a load of their money in taxes that they wouldn't otherwise have had to. That, and by dying earlier they don't take resources (money) from the needy by having all sorts of medical troubles.
Umm, where did the idea of Hell even come from exactly? There's no scripture that comes close to describing it. The remotest thing mentioned to Hell in the Bible is Gehenna (an earthly grave; unconscious state of death) or the lake of fire and sulfur mentioned in Revelation where the devil is tossed into and instantly destroyed, not tormented, and both of those are clearly not a place underground where you are burned for all eternity being poked by a red guy with a pitchfork and pointy tail and horns. It also mentions in the same book of Revelation a resurrection of both the righteous and unrighteous, the righteous to an eternal life in either heaven or earth, and the unrighteous to a resurrection of judgment and instant death.

Imo, don't blindly listen to church leaders. Try reading for yourself. All of the above can be found just in a single book of 20-some chapters.

As to this: Smoking purposely affects your health and poisons your body, so if you want to go as far to say the smoking is a sin, sure, why not?
How to complain in style: GG, Mahulk.

As far as religion is concerned, suicide = you going to that dark hot place called hell. From what I have heard if you commit suicide you go to hell. Now Whats bothering me is "put yourself in this position". Youre a smoker, you chain smoke every day of your life, One day you get a phonecall...the diognosis, Cancer. Due to exxesive smoking. You feel all bad because you know if you hadnt smoked chances are this would not have happened.

So a couple of months down the line you are in your deathbed and one day...3....2...1....flatline. After youre gone you reach those old pearly gates of heaven, youve been a good person all your life never done any evil. And God says."Youre going to hell" You cannot believe what you are hearing. The reason Gad says "suicide" You wonder what he means by this and you are in total disbelief.

So the bottom line is, If suicide is punishable by going to hell.....Would God send us there if your Choice of starting to smoke led to your death. Therefore would God deem this as suicide.

Hmm dont wana be shunned but that statement right their is Prbly the biggest example of why i do not believe in any religion... I do however believe in the morals like Being a good person and Stuff like that.

And to answer your question... You are not just slowly commiting suicide and u are murdering ur loved ones who you smoke around <Just quit>

Was only an example. My point was that by this logic, making any actions at any point in your life which may possibly contribute to your death equals suicide.

:/

Try reading a bit more for yourself.

It also says, in the Bible, that Lucifer is actually on of the most handsome men that you could ever meet. And that hell is not inside earth/underground.
I forgot where, exactly, it said that hell is, but it isn't on Earth, anywhere.
