That's what I wanted to say.

> logic

You are not ">logic" greater than logic. You obviously haven't met anyone ever.

People who look trustworthy are con-artists. I bet that a lemon car dealership has the most trustworthy looking people working there. You can't tell someone's gender by looking at them. Come to America sometime and we will amaze you with technology.

You can only see what other show you. The medium of how they show you is irrelevant.

This is really just run of the mill paranoia. Society gets scared when people can have secrets. On the internet you are not subject to your local community judging you/ The internet is social relief. Some people abuse that. However, this can be countered by following simple common sense. I don't go telling everyone where I live the second I meet them, do you? You run more risk from anyone you meet in person than you do with any you meet online. People online can't just decided to beat you to death and then do so. Even identity thieves still prefer to go through your garbage than through your inbox. I don't understand all the fear. People probably need a better education as to what real threats are.

AFAIK identity theft via malware is a lot more popular. Please post your source.
I have a set of online friends that live very far, yet I seem to connect with them as if they were family. If anything, I can connect better with them than I can connect with my real life friends. Also, yes, you can see and hear them because of webcams and microphones.

In my opinion, I believe that with work you can build an online friendship to the equality of a real life friendship.

Sorry for making it short.

Please post a source that states that Identity theft via malware is, in fact, a lot more popular.

Nevertheless, I'll play Devil's Advocate and do it for you. http://www.informationweek.com/secur...-600/219400767

Honestly, at this point in the argument, I consider friends you meet online to be just the same "friends" as in real life.

From now on, I will use the term "online friends" to describe people who I only type with, know nothing about, but make small talk with.

I guess it's true that an argument can evolve.
the inner machinations of my mind are an enigma

Why steal when people give it to you if you wait for them to be done with it. I also have worked in trash. You'd be surprised about all the stuff people forget about when they throw it away like it magically poofs.

Never throw a legal document away. File it.

Also, it is probably someone you know that know and trust. It's fair to say (uncredited) that the majority of crime is committed by some that the victim knew. The internet is a great way to protect yourself. No physical contact. Now that's security. This barrier, in my experience, makes people more comfortable sharing personal feelings. I think this puts people in a better position to make stronger bonds. 'Internet' friends are the only 'Real' friends.

I was asking for a citation to support "Even identity thieves still prefer to go through your garbage than through your inbox."

Your link does not support this.

Why would I post a citation? I am merely stating what I think, not asserting it as fact.

Besides that, I don't think you know what "Devil's advocate" means...

can only half agree with that. yea it makes a stronger bond between these persons, but if ure stupid and dont know anything about the web it can go really fast in the wrong way..
even your best "online" friend can get your name etc. makes a document about it and steals your identiy etc. and because he knows so much about the u. he could go even further and get on your bank money etc. (the way i think, it is able im not sure if its correct.)

eg. i would say : u can get online better friends, but its more dangerous and its hard to find the right one.
in real life u can pretty easily find good friends, its less dangerous, but theyre not that good friends then which youre talkin online too.

i would say that is more correct then what u said with "online" friends are better then "real" friends.

I'm just going to assume you're not being ironic and reply.

Now you just took it to the other extreme. While it may be naive to think that everything and everyone in the internet is aiming to fuck you over, it's pretty pretentious to assume the exact same of the real world. Despite what you might have been taught, the world is not there to steal your credit card. Nice guys are not con artists, women are not men wearing makeup and a nice dress, and children aren't FBI agents (CITATION NEEDED). I love how you made a note about how an online human being can't beat you to death whereas a real life one can, as if we lived in San Andreas. Is your argument honestly "people should only interact online because interacting online can't hurt you"? Actually, we might both be pulling a hell of a hyperbole. Essentially, my point is that weighing real world interactions against online interactions based on security alone is pretty 1-dimensional.

I don't support or believe in your side, yet by stating what I did, I was helping it out.

I'm not retarded, you know.
