no not that that's too simple. I mean that a trumpet is in the key of Bb and Tuba is in C but they both play the same pitch with the same fingering it's just not the same when it is transcribed on the staff ( I know the staves are different that's not what I mean )

ohhh so they transpose notes because instruments are built in different keys... hmmm well that explains that but not why they are built in different keys in the first place.

I assume its because they may want an entire group of in an orchestra built in say c, for the sake of their music. and others may want their instruments to match in a different key? so when they all play that piece written in c they all match because their cbuilt.?

I'm just guessing here lol.... My experteeees lies elsewhere dude. far far far elsewhere ha.
