@ KF; The selfishness part was directed at everyone. It's an open discussion isn't it? ; )
Why isn't it our place to decided who's life is worth more? We are the most advanced race. You say we are animals. Well then, as animals, it would be natural of us to kill that which is weaker than us.

...It's obvious?
Not just from self-preservation behavior, but from acts which aim to preserve other life. It amazes me how oblivious people can be. Never owned a pet?
@ Rutz: I am well aware of how many animal products we use, and how much suffering is endured each day to bring those products.
Nature is not a pretty happy place where everyone gets what they want - it's a brutal meat grinder which is all about conflicts of interests. As it happens, humans rose to the top. And as sad as it is, Bob won't care that an animal whose ground flesh he now munches on screamed in agony and despair as it was being slaughtered.
BUT AT LEAST these things serve a tangible, productive purpose. At least there is solace in that. Killing an animal on a whim and throwing it to rot does nothing.
@KF; What separates us from animals is an enlightened capability to reason.
