Marci, if you're not happy with the prizes then why do you take part in the tourneys, and waste your time on something you don't want?

I like that because its nice to have a switch up of something where everyone is new to the mod providing a fairly equal chance of winning (unless im playing :P)

but yeah, i do realize that GMs host a lot more tournaments nowadays and they are fun to play in. using mods like aikido.tbm or judo.tbm or aikidobd arnt really as fun as say culapou.tbm or whatever another random mod is. In addition, i think a while ago someone hosted a /fwin tourney which was quite fun to play in (can't rememebr who but you know who you are) but things like /fwin tournaments or small dojo tournaments pose a great deal of fun for the players like me who play in them.

EDIT: it was yoyo who did /fwin

I respect...
I found it difficult to decide between simple number of wins and knockout tourneys.
I've been playing for a while but only visiting the forums recently, so I don't know much about the mods as people, but I do know I'd love to see some nice tourneys with cool mods and rules
It's a shame that nobody voted for the tournaments that depend on the number of wins in the allocated time period. Those were always the best as they were more fun, and the fairest as they would be a better judge on who the best player was. Anyone can get lucky in a knockout tournament, and a lot of the time the knockout environment encourages people to do incredibly lame openers, run etc.

Anyone who remembers the old reg key tournaments will probably agree.

Yeah I agree. It allows the GM to toggle mods and provide a more dynamic event. As well as not pushing a participant out of the fun after they lose a match.
I've been in some of them and they aren't too bad, but they take up too much time and to win, you have to depend on how many noobs there are in that room playing basically. Knockout tournaments, like all tournaments, do require luck but not as much.

EDIT: double ninja

Back when the full game required one to pay for a registration key, a kindly ancientfag (I think it was dikarika) used to hold tournaments in his private server, and the winner received a key. The tournaments lasted around an hour and he would often make new mods for them. They were utterly fabulous.
