I'm bi. Do you think it's because I choose to like both guys and girls?
No. Homosexuality, even perceived homosexuality, is frowned upon in current culture. What person in their right mind would choose to become homosexual, and thus become subjected to the torment and shame of being reviled. You have to be an idiot to think that's the case.
I like both genders because that's how I'm wired, not because I choose it. I would love to have been a normal kid growing up, heterosexual and not a care in the world. Instead, I grew up feeling incredibly out of place and awkward among my peers. Knowing that your difference can end friendships and brand you forever is a painful secret to keep. I would have given everything to avoid that fate. And bisexuality has slightly greater acceptance than homosexuality, so I can't imagine how much worse it could be for homosexuals.
I'll say it again, because some people refuse to understand it. Homosexuality is NOT a choice.
