It is, but isn't a poem and it draws inspiration from any type of poem and even takes in account the timing for regular speech, It's what Bards usually use in their poems. You can use any rhyme scheme you like with no limits, use assonance and consonance like a juggernaut. The only limits are your imagination and wordplay. Also, you can use schemes like the limerick.
Example.
This right here is a limerick
A rhyme scheme that appears
To reveal itself in the beginning
And the end for the extra kick
