why?

a single 970 will max... everything. and render anything in no time.
literally the biggest case of unnecessary overkill ive ever seen.

im crossfiring 2 R9 270's and im maxxing everything at 60+ fps.
although, the jitter lag you get from games without crossfire / SLI support is a tad annoying, i almost regret it.

The only real purpose to sli especially a gtx 970 is when you plan on playing at higher resolutions such as 4k.

I am doing 3D Animation and the sort, that is why I got SLI. Actually swapped out the 970s for 980s just recently, since I ended up getting dual 4k monitors. It's very pretty.
