UPDATE: I spent a few mins today using trial and error methods to try and solve your original, none of my itterative formulae worked. -.- I've got the answer to be around about... x = 2.228833103999. XD
But I'm sure I can get it a little more precise... My calculator was refusing to bother with that many deciamal places. But try that, it's around there... I'm going out to a gig now, I'll use a better method once I get back. =P
I wasn't going to tell you, but since you're so (bleep)ing stubborn, I guess I have to.
I... Accidently miswrote the equation.
It's supposed to be ((x^x)+x)/x = x*x+(x/x)

I give a shit. =P And shut up Locker. -.-
Krae you wanker. -.- Get the equation right next time. That one's interesting though. I got it down to ... x^x - x² - 1=0. Which is a pain of a formula. XD
The correct one is easy. XD
((x^x)+x)/x = x*x + (x/x)
((x^x)+x)/x = x^2 + 1
(x^x)+x = x^3 + x
x^x = x^3
Therefore x=3.
