The lines are too bright to emit that dark 'light' it just seems unrealistic.

adding more glow wouldnt suit the drawing style.
not adding excessive glow is a styling choice which i agree with.
although it can be argued that its made out of non-reflective material, matte finish carbon fibre or something. Its not exactly alien or future technology.

Light reflects on everything, just different amount of reflection and this amount of reflection is too low to match the reflection on a matte material.
