Brazil's Independece Day - September 7
On 7 September 1822, Pedro declared the idependence of Brazil and, after waging a successful war against his father's kingdom, he was acclaimed on 12 October as Pedro I, the first Emperor of Brazil. The new country was huge but sparsely populated and ethnically diverse. Unlike most of its Hispanic republic neighbors, Brazil had political stability, freedom of speech, respect for civil rights and vibrant economic growth.
Lovely Story, isn't it?
But what, actually, happened was that Brazil got tired of being dominated by Portugal, therefore Brazil decided to be dominated economically, culturally, and almost politically by USA. When the above text says we had "vibrant economic growth" yes, we had: but do you know how was our economy before being independent? We didn't even have economy, baby. (I don't even want to know what happened to our neighbors)
Ah north americans, I'd prefer to be dominated by UK, their culture is more awesome than yours!
