"Ultimate Servers" spin-off thread
So the "Ultimate Servers for higher belts thread" was pretty interesting, because for a while the only real restrictions have been black belt servers. It got me thinking about other possible custom servers- an 'old-school' server, perhaps, that could check when you joined and only let you in based on how long you've been a member. It would prevent the "I-joined-a-week-ago" noobs from storming the server if it was a decent number, but the minimum probably shouldn't be more than 12-18 months because there aren't many active members from say, two years ago.

Another idea was a Champion's Server, which only lets you in if you have a certain Win-Loss percentage/ratio, maybe above 60 or 70.

EDIT: Champion's Server would have free crab biscuits, and the Old School server would have free cocktail shrimp. (Mm, cocktail parties. Srsly oldskoolz?)

Discuss, suggest, etc.

Hmm. Perhaps 4.0 might have lua integrated into servers? It could grade your win percentage and give you a letter grade for it; 80-100% for A, 60-79% for B, 40-59% for a C, etc.

Sidenote: Crab biscuits/Cocktail shrimp need to be items. Like, you get them every time you win in their respective servers.

Wouldn't the champion servers be full of farmers and "Play to win" players?

I like being able to play wushu with no pressure, and mess around with improv, comeback as often as possible and largely ignore the score. If i played to win, ran when up on points and used danceoff moves, would that really make me a "champion"?

Oh, and as for "oldschool" servers, i'm not sure I agree on the concept either. First off, there aren't many around. Secondly, a + doesen't make you a better player/less of an ass. Sounds like unnecessary elitism, to be honest.
Wow, that was pretty bitter, vague, and stereotyped. I have a high win %, but by chance. Many people who have high win % don't do a pussy touch attack and then kick off five hundred meters in the opposite direction to win by point advantage, they play for fun and they do it better than others =P Farmers will exist everywhere, and the server would be preferably moderated in case of farmers.

Old-school servers: Interesting, I never said being an old-school player would make one better or cooler by default. I don't understand the hostile assumptions on your part. It's like you're opposed to something that doesn't even exist =/ Anyways, typically speaking, the few old school players who are around stayed because there wasn't a mob on Toribash that hated their guts, mainly because they were better players, or just not assholes.

I think you're just jealous about the crab biscuits tbh :0

There are plenty of us from 2 years ago.

A win percentage server would be kinda silly because people that cared about win percentage would never go there.
i have a totally post modern tattoo of a scalene triangle.

Uh, that wasn't bitter, stereotyped, or vague at all. I simply disagree with you.
Why? because of logic. I didn't say that players with high win percentage are all farmers or "danceoff" players, i merely stated that it would be an easy way to acquire this win %. You ignored my point about the real champions being the players who come back to the other guy when they're 10 points ahead, and could take the win by tripodding the match out, or the guys who use original improv in the face of a sea of players using copied sweeps and rush moves. (yes, i'm talking mainly wushu here. and i'd hope that my opinion on the gamemode is founded in fact and experience ;p). I have a high win % myself, or at least i did have when it was actually checkable, so if the servers exist, i'd probably be able to enter them. I simply oppose the idea based on principle and logic. If there is anything you did not understand, then feel free to ask, instead of labelling my post as "vague". I'll answer what i can.

The reason i'm against a server that only lets oldschoolers in is due to the fact that, contrary to war_hero's post, there are very few active oldschoolers ingame, and a public server could be put to better use for adding a new "Elite" server, with an extra gamemode, or giving the semi-pro/beginner level guys another server.
I agree with harl. The win % would be a complete waste of time because then yellow belts with 8 wins and 2 losses would be in rooms against the best of the best. It would also lead to more people quitting to avoid a loss in order to protect their ratio.
Fubuki: No, it wouldn't be a waste of time. There is an easy way around low belts getting into servers. (Hint: minimum belt restrictions)

H4rl: No, no, it's definitely the crab biscuit jealousy aspect =/
