In general?

Eh.

I can see the thrill in being scared while at the movies, but I really don't enjoy being afraid of the dark after seeing a movie. Oh, and certain types of "horror" flicks, (I.e. zombie splatter) aren't scary at all.

EDIT: I should specify that some horror flicks are BRILLIANT, such as The Sixth Sense and the first Saw movie (the sequels are heaps of stupid gore with a dumbed down plot for a dumber audience)

Most horror movies are just lame.
They are just about few teenagers getting killed etc.
But there are a few good ones like Pet Sematary and Shining. And my personal favorite: Funny Games (the austrian original).
There are some really good ones (the shining, for example), but generally they are cliche and stupid.
I often find movies which aren't intended as horror (some dramas and psychological thrillers) to be much more terrifying than your typical 'horror' movie which relies on showing the audience some human meat.

all they have is someone getting killed in a very gory fashion, and naked women running around.
except for a couple exceptions=blair witch project, shining, pet semetary, and others.
Beta: YOU HAVE TO LOOK AT IT1!!! ITS LEGIT FULL 128! Morbon: joint textures and all? Beta: lol no fuck joint textures
They scare the crap out of me, and I don't enjoy them even the slightest bit. I don't watch movies to get scared and have nightmares. I'm a wuss when it comes to zombie/alien movies. People getting scared of sharks is another story, though.

When I see a movie, I want to go away from the TV/Theater with a good feeling, feeling enlightened, entertained or pleased somehow, not shaking with fear and being scared of every alley.
I'm surprised at how similar Aslask's opinion is to mine. I don't like to get scared, and i just don't understand the point of watching a horror movie. I mean, if they scare you, then why the hell are you watching it? Besides, if i see a truly horrifying scene, it's going to linger vividly in my mind for days on end. I still have faint memories of horrifying scenes that i saw YEARS ago. My own imagination is demented enough as it is, i don't need any horror movies making it even more demented.

So, long story short, i hate horror movies, and i'll avoid them at all given chances. Needless to say, i didn't pay much attention in school when the subject was the horror genre.

various places to find me lol
i find alot of them to be funny in just how stupid the characters are. especially the 80's ones are so outdated that they just make me laugh. i hate the modern torture flicks. SAW 6? really?

Adrenaline rush.
A change of pace from mundane room-temperature life of average joe.

It's the same reason people love scary roller coasters. The taste of being on the verge of death. Sitting in a defenseless position while being hurled through the air at 80 mph.
Well, going to the movies with a chick to see a horror film is nice, just for the reactions.

For any other purpose... eh. Most of them are barely creepy, they just startle you.

(Lol'd at the tag, by the way)
