Valentines Day
Here it is, an exercise in both redundancy and futility. The attempt to romance your significant other through tired, rehearsed methods, most popularly the purchase of mass produced chocolate, cards and commercial flowers. The day where women expect to be treated, the day where men expect to get laid. A day of "romance", however the romance is long since dead.

It is a tradition where men attempt to "make-up" for the wrongs they have caused their significant other and wrong them by expecting sexual intercourse. A tradition where women wrong their other through expectation of gifts and "make-up" for it by putting out at the end of the day.

It is a tradition tried, a tradition tested, and a tradition failed. The attempt to forcibly inject our lives with scheduled romance, not only going against the very notion of romance, but doing little more than supporting business.

This is valentines day; a day that should not exist, a day that should be both spontaneous and personal. It is instead both rehearsed and commercial. I am not saying every day should be Valentines day, but any day should be Valentines day; a day where you express love for your significant other on a whim, a simple "thanks for everything", a simple "I love you".

RIP.
I have to agree here.
This is literally one of the many days that the corporations thrive upon.
The whole point of it is to show that you love someone, but if you ask any girl or guy whether they think it proves that they love their partner and they say yes then you have just questioned a fool.

For you to truly show that you love someone by giving them gifts, then it should be random and unexpected, unlike Valentines Day.

I personally can't wait to own a chocolate company, then rape you all every year on this very day.

Love isn't gifts. And it's not only shown through gifts.
Isn't the holiday based a guy (saint valentine) exchanging notes between prisoners? I think that the day should be taken in a new direction, where every year people dress up like old world inmates and spend the day without the person they love, in honour of the dead folks the day is named after.

Beats buying poorly written cards anyway.

Meh. It's essentially the same tradition. One way the Japanese have it "more right" though, is that the girls actually make the chocolate.

Yet another commercialised waste of a day.

<Erf> SkulFuk: gf just made a toilet sniffing joke at me
<Erf> i think
<Erf> i think i hate you
This is the best valentines day ever. I'm currently dating my hand, who doesn't whine and bitch and ask for chocolate and shit.
I don't understand what's wrong with blatant commercialism. You all make it sound like this terrible, terrible thing that sucks the meaning out of every major holiday-- it's not like they had any meaning to begin with.

And it sounds like m0o is butthurt because nobody wants to buy her chocklits. God, you make getting laid sound so depressing.
