Also, what would be some ways to improve our society if you believe it to be lacking?

They think about Americans far less often than you think.

I'm tempted to shame this thread, but I'll keep it here for the OPs sake. I won't be tolerating bullcrap in this thread, however.

Well, I'm from the UK, and i understand that mny Americans are very clever, educated and thoughtful people. However, the idea of the whole of America being populated by redheads and people with Texan accents is sort of spoon-fed to us over here on the TV and radio, and there are many programs on the TV, for example, which explain to us how the whole of American life is a constant stream of excesses and wastefulness. You just have to log onto a forum like Toribash, however, with a high number of American members, to see that this is bullshit (for the majority, anyway)

I'm with Flu, the majority of views about american's from Europians is greatly sterotyped through TV and such.

Well, when i do think of Americans, my thoughts vary depending on the context. Before you read on, you should know that i fully realize how bad stereotypes are. One unfortunate stereotype my brain has hatched is that they have an odd sense of humor. I mean sure, some of those sitcoms are amusing, but i wouldn't actually laugh loudly over them. I know that this is far from everything that American humor is based on, but it just so happens that they're the most frequent American comedies in the tellie here in Denmark.

Another generalization that has surfaced in my mind is that... Well, they all have a superiority complex in relation to other countries, and often have a lack of interest in them as well. No offence intended.

Now, there are many people just in this little community who prove both stereotypes wrong, but i can't really shake them. I admit to being a prejudiced individual, but i do my best to work around it. Apart from the above, i think the average American is pretty similar to the average Dane.

I do not think americans are stupid. I was playing an online math game and the only good people came from the US or UK.

I don't really care about where people are from.

American's are cool.
